Amelia joined the Swank Lab in 2026 as a Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. student. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, where she investigated the use of electrodermal activity as a biomarker for objective pain assessment. Her current research will explore whether an antioxidant intervention (SOD1) can mitigate age-related declines in skeletal muscle contractile properties and mitochondrial respiratory function in Drosophila.
